Event & Bar Manager

Lead Exceptional Events at Revel Center

Revel Center is seeking an organized, energetic, and hospitality-focused Event & Bar Manager to oversee event operations and bar services at our premier wedding and event venue in downtown Grand Rapids.

This leadership role is responsible for ensuring every event is executed flawlessly while providing exceptional experiences for our clients and their guests. The Event & Bar Manager oversees event staff, manages bar operations, maintains venue standards, and serves as a key member of the Revel Center team.

Responsibilities

Event Operations

  • Open and close the venue for weddings, corporate events, and special occasions.

  • Conduct pre-event walkthroughs to ensure the venue is guest-ready, both inside and outside.

  • Oversee event setup, execution, and breakdown to ensure a seamless client experience.

  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and hospitality throughout every event.

  • Address event-related challenges professionally and efficiently.

Team Leadership

  • Hire, train, schedule, and manage event staff, interns, and event assistants.

  • Provide leadership and support during events.

  • Evaluate intern performance and complete skills assessments when required for college credit programs.

  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Bar Management

  • Manage inventory levels for bar supplies and equipment.

  • Coordinate ordering and restocking of bar inventory as needed.

  • Assist clients with alcohol planning and bar-related event logistics.

  • Ensure all bar operations comply with Michigan liquor laws and responsible alcohol service practices.

Venue & Administrative Support

  • Assist with venue maintenance, organization, and event preparation.

  • Support social media and marketing efforts by helping capture event details and content opportunities.

  • Assist with day-to-day operational projects that contribute to the success of Revel Center.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Event Management, Business, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of one year of event management, hospitality management, or leadership experience.

  • TIPS Certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with social media platforms, email communication, and standard business software.

  • Professional appearance and commitment to exceptional customer service.

Schedule & Availability

  • Full-time position averaging 45+ hours per week.

  • Events may occur seven days per week, including evenings, weekends, and select holidays.

  • Scheduled days off provided during the week based on event schedules.

  • Additional hours may be required during peak wedding and event seasons.
